vauxhall alram on j reg astra

hi,

i have just brought my astra, and it is fitted with a vauxhall alarm, does any one know how it wrks as all i have it a key that starts the car no fobs etc, i only know its fitted with an alarm as i found the alarm box under the bonnet and a switch in the car.

can i by a new fob for it and get it to work with the unit?

my one has a fob, when you activate it the alarm beeps and central locking kicks in and vice versa. unsure if you can get a new fob. maybe possible?

my mates was the same, put a new battery in the alarm box.. ( 9v square one i think ) and then set the switch to auto or what ever it says, then when ignitions turned off it begins to beep.. you have so many seconds to either turn ignition on or lock ya doors.....

and yes you can also get a key fob for it... vauxhall main dealers, do an add on pack for the vauxhall factory fitted alarms, its somat like £60 but it then turns it to remote central locking with alarm...

do you know what kind of fob they give you? or do they give you one built into the key. think i might have to get one

my mates was just a normal alarm looking key fob.... but if you go to a vauxhall dealer they will be able to tell you more about it.. i.e options and stuff

does this also count for the standard alarms on the gsi's? My mate's got a 1992 J reg Gsi and he was thinking about a full closure alarm with remote central locking. Could he get add on's for his standard one too?
