DONT buy a crappy buffer - if your going to get one spend money on one - cheap is crap in this case Nige!

white car -

good shampoo ( megs gold class )
nice polish (auto glym Super Resin Polish)
Wax (Dodo Double Wax)

not really had much experience with air tools so couldnt comment...

it depends how experienced you are as a lot of people do more damage using rotary polishers as they can leave buffer trails and even burn the paint..

a safer option is to get a porter cable, UDM, or the new meguiars G220 polisher which is a random orbital polisher. I'd then get some good quality pads the more the better IMO as I go through a lot when doing a detail (sonus, lake country, meguiars are all decent makes)

Then for polishes depends on what you want to acheive and if your working by hand or machine..

For hand I'd say megs 3 step or autoglym as readily avaliable from Halfrauds etc

For machine the list is endless mate, but personally I like menzerna, the new 3m polishes, meguiars pro range for swirl removal/polishing then add a good quality sealant to add to the depth then top off with a good carnuaba wax (which there are so many to choose from)

Any more help mate just ask n I'll try and help

bucket and wash mitt yes - make sure you clean the mitt tho alot. also dont use it on wheels as the dirt will get into the mitt and then scratch the car :(

just something like Meguires Gold class shampoo and a drying towel :)
