After returning from a very long hiatus of Astra ownership, I’ve dipped my toe back into mk3 ownership. Problem is all my knowledge has disappeared.

What’s the difference between the big block and small block front struts? Looking at replacing springs and shocks, as I’ve had a spring snap on me. I’m aim of putting GSi ones on ready for a 2.0 conversion next year.

So million dollar question, will it work or not

Thanks
Matt

I would like to see the replies too. Also it may also be worth getting a few rumours clarified as well, such as; over the years ive heard that the diesels and anything automatic also had big block legs regardless of engine size. Like yourself, all my ‘head-data’ has leaked away over the years.

The size you can see they are different and the hubs / bearings from memory due to splines.

The actual Inserts you can swap around its the actual metal strut units the inserts go in that differ
