Does anybody know where to buy performance head gaskets for the X20XEV? I know that the X20XEV's seem to suffer with the head gaskets. Hmm... or would I be better getting a GM one? Basically... anybody got any recommendations on head gasket? Oh yeah... is it worth getting uprated head bolts too??? engine isnt going to be mad, hope to have sport cams but everything else internal stock...

Go for a payne headgasket as I heard some good things about them when I changed mine and havnt had any issues since. Dont reuse headbolts whatever you do, get new ones. Didnt know there was any such thing as uprated headbolts, but I may be wrong.

Yeah... I know not to use them again - stretch bolts. I'm sure somewhere I've seen uprated ones?? hmm...

The only uprating you can do with the headbolts it's to replace them with reusable stud/nut kits.

For what it's worth I used a cheap eBay top end gasket and bolt kit when my C18XEL's head gasket went (relevant as they're nigh on the same) and it was fine.

Yeah? hmm... seen the kits for something like 20-30 quid but didnt know if they were worth it in the long run. Not had any issues you say? Maybe just go with a cheap kit then I guess

just get a goetze gasket, the cheap gasket sets really are cheap and ****e. i had a lad bring a c20xe headset to me and i just laughed and binned it there and then, the gaskets were so poor. do the job right and get the proper oem gasket and bolts.
