93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

It was stolen last August for a day to steal some farm equipment and the glovebox was open, I superglued it back and looks good as new. As for the overheating a shop fitted a new cold thermostat (old was very hard to move and leaking) and a new fan switch sensor. Now it runs at about 80°C when...

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

Side question, today I arrived to my glove box front on the floor, tought someone broke in again but it seems that the glue dried out, and that it's just glued with one or two (broken) tabs, has this happened to engine else?

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

Sorry for the late response, I haven't had much time to sort it out. I think the gauge is fine because it rained and as soon as I got to 100°C the humidity on my radiator boiled (a little bit of steam coming out of the front, not coolant). Now I have the fan always on and doing 3km routes...

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

My new guess too, since the fan is helping but cutting in too late, maybe the radiator is not getting warm enough to activate the sensor. I was also considering the water pump, maybe I should change both but I need the car for a few months, don't see much damage from running it like this...

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

I just changed cities this week for uni and now I live in the middle of the city, which made everything worse. I had to move some stuff from shops to uni (5ish km) and had to stop in the side of the road since the temp was already near the red not even 3km in since there are a lot of traffic...

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

Seems a bit weird, I would imagine they middle of the dial is the intended temperature! Or maybe I am to used to my father's golf 7 tdi which stays on 90 regardless if it's -10 degres or 45! I'm looking at some thermostats and it seems most open at either 87ºC or 92ºC, so I guess either the...

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

I also shunted the fan switch so the fan was always on. That only decreased the overall temperature slightly by 5-6°C and it never went past 100. I feared this could cause additional wear on the fan and I now I will only do this in case the temperature goes to high on a long journey

93 1.4 Si - high normal temp and gear knob

Hello fellow astraniers I recently (2 months ago) bought my 93 Astra 1.4 SI in GT trim. After it was stolen and recovered mostly unharmed, I got to trying to fix some issues with it. My normal temperature is 98-102°C, I have tried flushing the radiator and some tubes, but it only improved...
