Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. I've still got my Mk3 but will have my passat towards the end of february. I've got an exam first thing monday morning so will need to be revising :-( If you don't like exams, don't go to Uni..

interior/cabin light not working for drivers side doors??

Sry to bump but I have the same except the light only sometimes works (usually weekend). It used to work when one of the doors was open, I pulled the headlight knob out or when I unlocked the car using the Alarm Keyfob. Do you guys know where all the 3 wires may converge?

    1.7 TD Head gasket

Firstly I'd recommend you try 'Bars Leaks' or similar. Bars Leaks has helped me out previously. I personally don't think it sounds like its H/G as it holds pressure for some time after switching off. One thing I found on two of my Isuzus (discovered when changing the turbo) is that the...

    Cruise control

Hi guys, I'm thinkin of installin some sort of cruise control in my astra (isuzu). Does anyone know of any kits or similar that would do this? If not, I propose to use the potentiometer under the headlight switch for setting the desired speed, an electrical linear actuator and PIC...

    drivers side driveshft

I had a CV joint go and picked a re-con'd one up from motor factors for £25. Also had various other knocks from play in the brake pad & caliper some how, and rear bushes.. To take driveshaft out u'll need to undo the track-rod, lower ball joint, poss. arb and take the suspension arm out. U'll...

    Isuzu Cylinder Head

Huy guys, I decided to buy an isuzu 1.7 to dismantle for educational purposes  (Thought I'd buy an isuzu as it's the same as the one in my astra) The engine and gbox were running fine when I took them out of the astra. Upon taking the head off I noticed a few small cracks and took...

    rad fan switch, pic request

Could be a ballast resistor has gone (I had that problem - shorted the multi-plug, low speed fan circuit worked for a while then just died for no reason) You may find my post in this thread helpful: CLICK HERE

    Clunking

Finally sorted. After lying under the car for 10 mins rethinking my strategy I decided to go back nd look at everything again. Turns out it was actually the brake pad. For whatever reason the inner pad had room to move between the bracket and caliper. A little bit of welding on the pad...

    Clunking

No luck, put new front and rear bolts on and it was much better for a little while before returning to just like before. I had the tracking done today and they rekon'd there was a little play in the rear d/side bush and that the p/side rear bush was "hangin'"?? The bush is lk 6mnths old ...

    Clunking

Just changed the rear sub-frame bolt on both sides, did them up to 74ftlbs plus 90 degrees. Seems to have sorted it but will keep an eye on it for next couple of days..

    Clunking

Thanks for the reply KingLee. I've had the w/bone off bout 5 times since changing the rear bush. The rear vertical bolt was knackered so I replaced it at the same time as the bush. The front horrizontal bolt is about 14yrs old now nd removed about 7 times. As far as I can see neither bolts are...

    Clunking

While I was under the car yday I thought it may be the disc brake so I cleaned all the surfaces (hub, disc brake and contact point on the wheel) while also removing the caliper and mount. When reassembling I tightened everything with a load of nutlock. Again, problem solved for 5 mins..

Engine Codes for MK3 Astra Diesels

I know the Isuzu is the better of the two engines and have greater tuning potential... I've got Ph1 and Ph2 isuzu engines (bought the ph2 to take apart for learning). There's several differences between the two including different CAM belt tensioners, inlet manifolds, heat shields, etc. I...
