That's what the guy said. He's had to drill the rivets to separate it to clean it out, however the stuff is already in the engine. I should REALLY do some homework before I try things... :rolleyes:

Oh, and bin the lovely looking cam cover to avoid it happening again :(

Update. So I went to see the "saab specialist" today. And he confirmed what I thought, but what a mate ruled out. The original engine was mint. Only lost oil pressure after I took the cam cover off to get powder coated, then put the same cam cover on the next engine which was low mileage, full...

Top end is all ready. Skimmed, pressure tested, valves etc. New head bolts and gaskets. New water pump and cam belt kit courtesy of Courtney sport. Now just got to drop the sump, new bearings and a bit of honing on the bores, clean the pistons up as theres a bit of carbon build up. It already...

Oh yeah! Definitely not a route I'd want to go down, lol. There are others out there but still. Id want it done right.

Same. Got a bit boring. I did want to go to this one to check out the new venue, but the head gasket has gone on my Zafira gsi so half way through a engine rebuild on that as well as trying to get my astra sorted. So it's a no from me

What I've read/heard about is the spring wears out In the valve, and they've packed it out with washers....

Thanks. This is why I'm so miffed about it. First engine, strainer was quite bad, but second engine I have no idea! Strainer, pick up, sump all cleaned and clear prior to fitting it. Oil cooler flowing fine... :hmmm:

Yes, I'm using a friend's. No pressure when hot and very little when cold. Adding one washer at a time should gradually increase pressure. One at first. Check pressure hot and cold then the 2nd etc until your pressure is where it needs to be.

Apparently the spring goes weak resulting in loss of oil pressure, 1-4 washers behind it firming it up again rebuilds the pressure "apparently" I've tried everything else. One last shot before I either buy a running car and go for 3 times a charm or just give up and sell the lot.

Nice! I'm just back from holiday so next on the list is I'm going to try packing out the spring with washers for the pressure relief valve to see if I can get oil pressure. I've read that it's been tried and tested and worked so hopefully I'll be back on the rd. Defo going to look into that...
