5 stud conversion using saab bits ??

hello , i know this is a talked about subject but i was wondering ........

if the saab 900 and astra mk3 use the same floor would the complete saab rear axle fit?

has anyone done it? if so what handbrake cable fits?

a mate did this on his mk2 cav sri

Late Saab 900 & early 9-3 rear axle is the same as mk3 astra one, with an added anti roll bar & 5 stud hubs as standard so will bolt straight up, you need a 16v (sport or Gsi) handbrake cable

Yeah it fits and if all rear saab disks are the same it'll have 260mm rear disks too same as my mums

And it's the Astra handbrake cable you use

Hubs will fit, I don't know about the legs though.

while reading up about the front struts it seems common practice to remove saab shock and top mount and use astra bits as they are simular ??

i have a saab 900 which im breaking and cant decide to make my astra 5 stud or not

to sell or not to sell ...........

couldnt have a look to see if the legs are like corsa ones that bolt together at the bottom of the shock could you?

yes it is a turbo

tom they are exactly the same as cav and astra mk3

i ve been braking it but not having much luck on shifting the lump and box so it looks like i will hunt down a rust free sport or cdx 2 ltr and make a street sleeper

ill give it till the end of april to sell the lump , if its here ill build the astra , but at the same time if anyone knows anyone who wants one ..........

as said the legs will swap as they are the same or press the bearings and hub in if you want, caliper mounts will work as well, and also rear beam will bolt straight on shocks the lot, and Gsi or sport cable and keep the extra roll bar

oh dear !! there is a chap on migweb called deek who is a saab guru might give him a shout when wiring up

back on subject ......... if i do sell the beam ( with out roll bar ) + legs + brakes is £ 100 for everything being greedy ?

the only reason deek popped into my head was he is a bit closer to me than nige , anyway nothing is set in stone at this point
