This is my 1.7td (gm engine unfortunately) that I've owned for 2 weeks. I bought it for £295 from Stockport with 84,000 miles and 8 months mot. it belonged to nhs Stockport from new, then a window cleaner. Only job I've had to do was repair a footwell water leak which is now sorted, and done a complete wax oil underneath. It goes in for a full respray Monday and I've spent this weekend removing a few parts but still keeping it road legal to drive to body shop, then the big strip down begins. I have a load of new part waiting to fit number plates, wind deflectors etc... I'm going to be fitting a set of old school alloys from my era haha maybe tsw evo r, imola's or stealths. Will lower the front but not back as it will have my water tank in the back (it's still going to be a workhorse)
Here how it looks now will post some more pics when it's back.

When I picked it up originally

Forgot to say got a few questions

where can I get clear side repeaters, proper ones that actually fit correctly without modifying?
The windows are really stiff to wind (manual) what grease should I use on the door mechs?
Is their any nicer looking rear lights still available?

I think the rear lamps are the same as estates, so any of the aftermarket ones made for them should do. Front side repeater lamps and wing repeater lamps are clear on most Phase 2 cars, so just find someone breaking one.

Nice looking van that.

With the windows being stiff, try spraying some white grease all the way up both sides of the window. Its probably just dry rubbers

The lights aren't readily available really and you need deep deep pockets for them and going from the fact its a work horse is it really worth it? I only put my estate rear lights on for shows, already had someone smash one and it was a pain finding replacements, especially when they are £100+

Thanks for advice, yeah it's a workhorse but still worth it ;-)

Same colour, if I went for a colour change id want engine out etc... And that will cost more than I want to spend

Good to see a new project started
Tsw evo r alloys just gone on ebay yesterday if your interested bud
I was gonna buy this same van but waited for a newer one with black interior

Cheers, can anyone tell me how this piece of plastic trim at side of door comes off without breaking it? Soz about crap pic lol

I've got a 5-door hatch, so not the same trim, but it might hold on the same way. If you open the door, there should be a couple of black plastic push clips through the trim, gently prise them out and the trim should come off. I think...

Ok I tried to get them off before it went to body shop but couldn't work it out, I wanted to paint them with all the other bits whilst van was gone.

Had a sneak peak at the bodyshop today to see how it's going, prep work is pretty much done, they had a no show so 2 guys have been working on mine full time, said it will be done for Thursday

Got van back couple of hours ago so here's a couple of quick pics. As I'm currently putting it back together, I've had all the trim, wiper arms etc painted aswell... I had to put the bumpers back on for drive home but these are being painted or replaced in a few weeks (haven't decided yet what to do) I've got new door handles colour coded to fit but that will have to wait as I need to use van so having a mad rush to get it back together before the bad weather tomorrow.

One issue I got my heater blower has stopped working since I removed it.. I noticed plug/connections were rusty I cleaned them up as much as I could and since I reconnected it's dead.
