Astra 1994 Brake issue

I have had an Issue with the brakes for a while, If I brake lightly the brakes are ok, but if I brake hard most times the brake pedal gives way slightly / bounce and I get a ringing tone from the front? There is no abs light on and it has passed the MOT with no issue, I wonder if it is the ABS unit? If it is the ABS unit I would like to buy a second hand unit and get that reconditioned so I can do a swap out in one go.

I would check you ABS target rings, It can be common for a ring to crack, have a larger gap between teeth and cause the ABS to cut in.

no worries, let us know how u get on. the crack will be hard to spot, but might be there

It was the nearside ring so I got a new uni/ joint and the brakes are now on the button..
