You know you cant use the GSI rear beam on the van right? The shock angle is different on estate / van to hatch or saloons.

You can how ever strip the beam of the hubs (4 bolts per side) and swap them over to your existing beam only issue you then have is no bracket for the handbrake cable.

I wasn’t 100% sure but had an feeling. I then hoped by posting someone would confirm :) thank you :)

Yeah, my beam isn’t bad, and just got dinitrol treatment, but I thought by getting this I’d hopefully have everything I need to bolt on

Been and wire brushed the front brake parts and dropped them back in the bucket for a bit longer

Been reading about it on here and the blue forum. Fair impressed with the work done thus far.

It's a fair turn around!

And this week I got an MOT. It got the covid extension, so whilst working on it I left it, but thought I ought to get it done when MOT place could fit me in

then went back to work and got reversed into by one of the builders in his van

so ordered a headlight and number plate and swapped them today

also won some GSi seats for £10

They are a bit scruffy, but the drivers seat has collapsed a bit and I can feel the bulkhead with my back, so will look at whether I can tidy them up enough, but failing that it was still a cheap pretensioner clip as the passenger one is a bit broken

Swap the subframes over and have your passenger seat as the drivers seat :) looks great now, bet you were miffed when you saw that damage after all the hard graft though :(

Since MOT have been trundling round, but running has been getting a bit ropey. I think the injector cleaner did too good a job and cleaned out the injectors too well, it started not wanting to cold start and would stall and hunt till warm. Smoking worse. Fuel economy was dropping off and it smelled dieselly especially when cold

so, I’d sorted a replacement pump and injectors and had them refurbed/ calibrated

was going to have them swapped this weekend, but got that mixed up so swapped the injectors myself

That seems to have sorted most of the issues, there is a weep on the injector pump anyway. But it smokes when revved hard or cold starting still

And idle is a bit high. Also the damper is missing from the pump fitted, so wonder if there have been issues in the past and it’s been tweaked to compensate (?)

other than that, fitted a trim to the tailgate threshold

And have been using it.....

keep stopping to take photos of it though :)

I do love this van. The Phase 2 sport / Phase 2 gsi seats will clean up well.

Well I thought I had the other pump refurbed.... but it got fitted at the weekend and leaked diesel everywhere, so got taken off and returned to the the diesel specialists.

which for all my forward planning, left me without my work van :(
They inspected it and said it needed a full rebuild (which I thought is what I had already paid for, but it seems not.... I seem to have paid to have a broken pump cleaned and calibrated!) so my arm was up my back and without many options I paid to have my refurbed pump rebuilt :(

they turned it around pretty quick, picked up the next day

And it got fitted the next day and the van is back

started up lovely in the cold this morning, and no smoke on start up. Feels nicer to drive too, and hopefully won’t be marking its territory anymore

you can see the old pump was leaking

still a bit smoky when accelerating, wonder if that’s mostly blow by from being a bit gummed up, it did a couple of thousand a year until this year (I’ve done 10k now)

if I run it on v-max diesel with detergents, is that likely to help it? Or am I going to have to open it up to clean it?

Van is starting first turn of the key again, fuel economy is back to 45mpg. Still smokes a little bit really just when cold or under load... which seems to be normal.

did a 200 mile round trip this week without missing a beat, so can’t be too wrong :)

other than that I’ve swapped the taillights as the one ones were looking fairly secondhand (and put the old ones away as spares after the incident with the headlight)

Other than that, it got a wash... because as you can see it was filthy.
