Attack of the Turbo Squid ( Revenge of M515 EVL )

Update

I'll start of with filling in the big spaces where metal should be in the inner wheel arches.

Now lets see some rust :) the drivers side rear is by far the worse, needing lots of repair around the fuel filler area, the passenger side is much better, only needs a couple of small patches.

Next up is a bit more on the gauge pod

That will do for this one, more to come

Update

I cleared the back of the car out so i could get to inside of the inner wheel arches. I don't think the former owner ever cleaned this car out, because it bloody disgusting.

My lovely seats, can't wait to get these in.

Few more pics of the rust.

I pulled the fuel tank out, iv got a nice new one to go in :) i dropped the axle out as well as i will be using my 5 stud axle. sorry about the wonky photo's photobucket is not working properly.

Its solid under the car, but does need cleaning up

yea it wasn't pretty, but its pretty much all gone now. iv already checked it, apart from a bit of a dent on the near side the rear panel is sound.

update

A temporary fitting of the axle was required so i could check for wheel clearance.

Plenty of room once the new wheel arch is rolled.

The upper spring seat will be chopped off, for more travel.

i found some random coilover springs to try, they are a perfect fit. once the upper spring seat is gone the ride height will be spot on.

chop chop, bye bye spring seat

with the spring locator welded on and the rubber cushion in place, the springs sit really nicely.

Thats better

i also made up a new lower shock mount, to suit the estate shock angle

more updates soon.

update

Time to kill that rust :)

quickest way to get rid of the underseal :)

time for some new metal

That brings us up to date, i did the front part of the wheel tonight. So i'll hopefully have new photo's up every night from now on :)

update

Todays activates, drivers side is nearly done, just needs a couple of coats of underseal

smoothed out my welds

Bit of primer for now, i'll do the filling, sanding and painting later on

plenty of clearance :)

more soon

Cracking work Sam coming along

update

few bits done today

got the underseal done on the drivers side, so that side is finished now :)

now on to the passenger side, o look more holes

i got the boot floor cleaned and painted

Right i need some help with my new fuel tank, there are two pipe inside the tank, one is the feed the other is the return, can anybody tell from this picture, which is which???? any help will be appreciated.

thats all for now

Return goes into the bottom of the "swirl pot" and feed goes onto the pump housing then into the top of the pump on a petrol. The return pipe connects to the sender unit on the side of the tank. Put the sender in first so it doesn't get jammed against the pump as you will end up taking it all back out like I did...... Twice lol

thanks for the info but this is a diesel so it doesn't have a pump, both the pipes seem to go same place on the swirl pot, it only has the hole for the sender unit so this is the only view i can get of the inside of the tank.

update

Here's a few of the bits iv been doing the last couple of days.

I got the passenger side inner wheel arch modified and repaired

Lots of clearance for this :)

Then iv also got the lower shock mount and the upper spring seat done, so thats the rear suspension finished

More coming soon.

update

I wanted to get the fuel tank in, but came up against a problem. Who ever made this fuel tank put it together wrong.

This is how the sender unit should fit

But this is how it fits in the tank, wrong.

this mounting ring need turning

drill out the spot welds

weld it back in the right place

done

The fuel tank is now in and all plumbed in.

Now im moving on to the interior, its disgusting, so it all needs to go.

oooow jackpot :)

all the carpet and sound deadening out

test fitting the seats

nice solid mount

thats all for now.
