i recently had a matrex water pipe burst right next to my alternator. needless to say it got soaked with coolent and now i am getting a battery warning light showing on the dash.

would this be just tempery fault or is the alternator on its way out?

alternator charges fine (14v) and does not squeel. warning light is intermittent.

thanks

im going by your detailsunder your picture , am i right in thinking astra turbo diesel?

if so which engine?

if its the isuzu i had a simular problem which turned out to be a relay hidden behind the drivers side kick panel

Ega shewltons breakers has 17 diesel in that has alternator. I got 1 for a m8's petrol astra for 25 bucks from there. Obv not guaranteed to last for eva tho as its from scrappi's

It's obviously fried some circuitry in the alt when the water got in.
You're lucky it hasn't packed up charging but will be on borrowed time, v unlikely to dry out and be all ok, hope it does but unlikely.
tabetha
