im looking to insure the GSi guys but finding it a huge problem.

me and my wife both have other cars so our NCB wont be use don the GSi.
GSi will not be used frequently.
will only clock up upto 6k a year
will be shared 50/50 driving between me and the wife

wife is 27
i am 24

we both have clean licenses. shes been driving 9 years, me driving 6years

so im guessing to have her as main and me as added driver to keep costs down. (at the end of the day it will be 50/50 driven anyway)

quotes im getting so far are in excess of £900!! which is a huge amount for a second 'toy' car

are there any companies that do 2nd car/weekend car policies?

any advice will be appreciated

John limit the mileage to LESS than 6k a year IMO will reduce it more. The age of you both and the car isnt a good factor unfortunately.

who are you currently insured with?

Give my company a try, we should be able to 'mirror' your NCB over to the GSi and offer a limited mileage policy for you.

Please call 02083645500 and as you are a full member you will be entitled to a 20% club discount.

If you wish me to arrange a call back, drop me a PM with your name and contact number.

Thanks

get a traders policy there about £800 - 900 and your insured on anything upto a serten value put ur wife down on the policy and the car's you use ect soo you would be paying around £400 each when you think about it and ur coverd on prity much anything its the way to go

That works, but only if you are a trader. If you are not a trader the insurance isn't worth the paper it is written on unfortunately.

Funnily enough I was only reading on another forum recently about a chap (modified Jap import) who was only getting book payout for his car (£1500, car was easily worth £8k) as he insured it on a trader poliy.. once he had finished kicking off about that they asked him to prove he was a trader, he was unable to do so.. his insurance claim was null and void.

there is also a case on a vauxhall forum where as its on a trade account he is offered hardly anything for the car
