Brake Upgrade

Just a quick question.. looking for bigger brakes on my 1.4 and just wondering what options I have???

Are gsi discs and calipers a straight swap?

You can fit 256mm brakes from a big block sport or GSi, or you can use 284mm turbo brakes or 288mm v6 brakes.

The 256mm ones are easiest to fit. The bigger ones need drilling from 5 stud to 4 stud.

I have the 288mm ones on my 1.6 and they're really good. The pedal travel is a bit larger but well worth it.

The lotus elise 2001 on discs fit and are 288m FOUR stud, with correct offset, well they would be as Lotus use GM hubs!!

lotus disks are 21mm thick which is the minimum thickness for 288mm in the spec iirc

or you could just put tigra discs and calipers thay have to b e vented tho and thay are good

I've got a pair of 256mm calipers for sale if you decide to take that route.

21mm will be fine, the pistons, and pad thickness can EASILY accomodate this.
