Hi,
i was thing of doing a engine conversion on my astra merit 1.4 to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190382810923&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I was wondering, is all the wiring and engine mountings the same? Or do you have modify some things. I know quite a bit about cars but not at a experts level. Thanks

Its not worth changing the engine to that. If you going for a 1.6 then go for a C16SE or X16XE(L), much much better engines.

But to answer your question, the only thing you'd need to change is the ECU and the chip in the key for the immobiliser.

oh right, do you think its worth going for 1.8 then rather than a 1.6. I can't stand the performance of a 1.4 so will a 1.6 make much difference? Going from a 2L turbo diesal to 1.4 isnt good lol

The X16SZ(R) isn't much better then the C14NZ, only 15hp difference.

You can fit a 1.8 but it's more work as you need to change the front suspension legs and gearbox.

oh right, i was hoping for something with around 95 bhp, i'l have to have a look about and think. If i went for a 1.8 i would have to get some else to do it which wouldnt be cheap....

1.4 16v or 1.6 16v would be a good choice for the power your looking for.

If only wanting 95bhp, easiest way is to tune yours, is it a mpi or spi, if mpi they have larger valves than the 1.6 version and biggest of the small bore family, and respond awsomely well to porting, and decent cams.
Getting a 1.6 C16SE to 135bhp is childs play, it all fits as std as well, that's what i'm doing to my gf's car, C14SE auto, going to be 1680cc with modded head cam, ecu etc.
