OK, I have been wondering what is involved in changing my X20XEV (double sump) motor into a single sump. I know that there were the early X20XEV's with the single sump and i'm just wondering if its a case of changing the sump itself, baffle plate and the oil pickup?
Reason why i'm asking is that I want to know whats involved so that I can fit a Manifold intended for use on a single sump.

Any comments would be appreciated!

Actually thinking about it... i'm sure off the crank there is a massive oil pump sitting in the sump. Not yet looked yet :(

Dont think you can do a straight swap, the late ecotec has a girdle that im sure the single piece sump wont clear.

You wont be able to use the 8v bonded type gasket either and you`d also need to redrill all the sump bolt holes to 8mm.

Bingo!

This is why they started using the 2 piece ones.

However, the girdle is a bolt on part, so it may well be possible to just ditch it and use the single piece item, this would mean fitting an early type pickup as well.

The bolts holding the single sump on are a different diameter to the double sump.
Found this out when I changed my engine.

Thanks guys... didnt think it was strait forward.
