Hi everyone

Has anybody got an ECU for sale
It’s for the c16se 8v
Part number is 16183109
Thanks

Have you looked on ebay? Couple abroad for sale.
What's wrong with your one?

Hi
I’ve looked everywhere for one
They seem to be quite rare
I have an 8v c16se fitted to my mini and the engine just stops after 91/2 minutes for no reason
My mechanic seems to think that he ECU may be corrupted as he can’t find any other problems
Don’t know if this is a Vauxhall common issue or not
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Tony

Wow. Something like this?

Are you getting a warning light or something?
Is there an Opcom socket available to read what's going on?

Sounds more like a sensor issue rather than needing a new ecu to be honest?

Trouble is, I can’t get anyone locally to test the ECU
I could end up changing all the sensors only to find that the ECU may be faulty
There isn’t much scope to get this all checked out down here in Devon

I found when I changed the ECU I needed the Opcom software to reprogram the new one to work in my car. It was a long drawn out saga - you may want to read some of it here.
Not something I'd want to try again. I'd prefer to work through swapping out a few sensors/checking connectors etc first.
So there's no EML fitted to your dash? Any OPCOM socket tucked away anywhere?

Just spoke with my mechanic regarding your very helpful posts.
He says that all the sensors on the car are receiving a very small voltage [much less than they should] which leads him to believe there is an earth issue within the ECU
Apparently, he doesnt think the ECU can be tested as hes been informed that this particular ecu cant be tested for some reason
I do appear to have an EML fitted in the car.

Or occasionally the coolant temp sensor can cause the same symptoms/issue

I'd of thought whoever did the engine conversion for your car would have included the diagnostics socket somewhere. It may be buried and you may need to be a contortionist to find it. But maybe not, and if a reader isn't available anyway...

The fact that it runs ok for a while sounds promising for the ECU. A few sensor swaps and checking the fuel system would be worth doing before forking out for a replacement ECU.

Reading back it seems the challenge I ended up with years back was getting the car's immobilizer to accept the replacement second hand ECU (from Germany). I wonder how complete the rest of your donor car's circuitry is?

This seems to be the cheapest ECU on fleabay at the moment. Some others cheaper but the delivery costs seem off the scale nowadays for anything abroad.

Vauxhall Green list a crank sensor. Maybe change that first. Keith there was always helpful.

If you do find the diagnostics socket tucked away somewhere I see all the OPCOM gear is still on ebay.

Thanks for all your help fellas
I’m getting the OBD socket rewired, so hopefully that will help
Turns out there’s a few other issues, faulty fuel pump ,
I managed to find an ECU so hopefully I may get some positive action
Fingers crossed!
