I see the posts regarding overcooling on the 1.4spi, and how some fit an in-line stat.

My fan switch has packed up, not usualy a problem as it rarely gets hot enough to cut in, but wondered at what temp it should do so?

I was just going to put in a dash switch as I dont think the thermostatic switch on the radiator will come off without damaging causing problems/leaks in old radiator.

I have noticed that when it gets really hot the engine sounds a bit lumpy.

just clean it up with a wire brush and some carb cleaner and you should be alright to swap it out mate. All this talk of engine cooling made me realise that mine staying in the blue at all times unless i boot it may not be right!

Mine runs at 87C just under the blue, ie not even through the blue, despite a new sender, so just stick a resistor in to make read higher.
