hi guys, ran my boy to school this morning and on the way back going down a hill i noticed my eml come on and next i noticed that the engine idled at about 300rpm when waiting at a junction, now ive heard about the paperclip test so i did that and nothing, unless im doing it wrong, hopefully i can get this sorted asap as i have a job interview to get to at 5 lol, any ideas

if your doing it right you will get at least one code for initiating test. if your not getting any flashes then take a look at top buzz again and make sure youve got the right pins.

would look myself and explain more but got to go work :sorry:

right when i find another paperclip ill go out and give it a go as ive just lost the one i had, it does say on topbuzz, code 24 for my engine (x16szr) No speed signal or low voltage this wouldnt be related to me not havin my cpeedo cable connected as the signal goes direct from gearbox to the back of the clocks, this only came up after the cable came out

right i couldnt find another paperclip/piece of metal so i decided to have a look behind the clocks. the cable hadnt come off but wasnt put in properly so in turn had snapped and when i pulled the clocks out the cable was still inside the clock lol, so thats another thing to add to the repair list, anyway ive left the cable disconnected and the engine seems to be running ok now

that code refers to the crank shaft sensor (engine speed not road speed). it will come up if you do the test with the engine off.

if the code still comes up with the engine on then thats when you should look into it
