Got a slight problem with my sis' pug 206, the exhaust is rattling realling badly, I poped it up on axle stands today to have a look and the bracket that connects to link pipe and the centre pipe is rusted on and it's rattling because where they link together part of the link pipe has started to come off :o and so the cetre pipe moves about inside the link
Where's the best place to get a new one from and how easy are they to replace? i think it should get done soon as she had an escort before and that exhaust fell off

here's a pic if it loads up...

If your on about refitting a new bracket that is in the picture, then its **** easy. You can get one from a local part shop, for a couple of quid. For peace of mind when fitting the new one, you can use some loc-tite on the threads.
Hope this helps mate!

You might need to go to a Peugeot dealer or parts specialist as IIRC you can't usually get the type of clamps used on Peugeot's normally. They are not like a standard U clamp, in that the clamps are arched over their width to fit around the flange, but they still should be less than £5 for a replacement. Looks like someone has tried to repair that before with a good wad of gun gum

Thats what i thought about the gun gum. As Turboshed said, you might need to go to a specialists to get the U clamp, ive only ever been given the U clamp to be changed never had to get one myself personally.

thanks for replies guys, i'll look into getting a new bracket, but you see where the nut is missing from the bolt at top of pic, that broke off when i tried to loosen it :( and it didnt take much to do it that how rusted it is. Will it be ok to just replace the bracket or will the whole thing need doing? I'll try and get a pic of the whole thing tomorrow if my sis is home.

It really depends on the condition of the pipe underneath, It maybe that it is the U bracket was loose anyway and is why the exhaust was rattling. To be honest though, the design of them isn't the best as there is often quite abit of exhaust gas that escapes between the joints. The way they are made, is like one part of the pipe is inwardly rolled, and the next section is outwardly flanged to fit over the inward roll, then the u bracket clamps them both together

You shouldn't have any water in the boot, unless there was something leaking in there. It maybe just a little water caused by condensation in the exhaust system itself, which with the recent cold, sounds about right. It might be just you being paranoid
