right im currently running an f20 box on my v6 astra. it is about nackered and i can get hold of an f28 easily if i want it but what is involved in changing from f20 to f28?? also it is electrical speedo how hard is this to get working? thanks a lot luke

Is the F28 already converted to FWD? If not then you'll need to get it converted using a kit. You'll also need to drill and tap the holes for the rear gearbox mount if that hasn't been done.

Has your mk3 got ABS? If so then as yours is a phase 2 you should be able to wire the electonic speedo up fairly easily, but you will need to get a different speedo as your current one will be mechanical

well i had a look today and i have a rear mount. also i had a thought. my trip computer has a function on it where it tells you your speed you are doing when u reset it. surely this must run off the ABS could i not work out which wire it is going into the trip computer and join another wire to this to go into my speedo??

also do i need a different clutch from the one im using on the f20 box? and is there any modification needed on the gear linkage?

any help is appreciated
thanks luke

Yes you'll be able to run electronic clocks fine from your abs as above.

You'll have a rear mount on your current box, but the F28 uses a different style of mount due to the transfer box, which is why you need it drilling and tapping so you can use your existing rear mount not the standard F28 one.

Yes you will need to usea different clutch, you'll need to use your existing pressure plate with a LET friction plate as the number of splines on input shaft it different
