Gearbox speed sensor

I've been trying to remove this from my gearbox ready for taking my engine & box out, it's the last bit i need to disconnect and can't get the bugger out
I've tried unscrewing it but the cable coils up and then springs back in the opposite direction, is there a certain way/trick to removing this bit??

Can you not take the cable off first? If not then pull the cable out from the speedo, then it wont coil up.

Are you talking about the speedo cable ??

Look at the gearbox where it is screwed in .. there is a small screw holding the whole unit in the gearbox. Unscrew that and pull the whole cable with small cog drive out as a whole unit.
