Been knocking around the mk3 scene for over 12 years since I got my first one a L reg 1.4merit in blue. bought from auction with no steering wheel drove it home with mole grips. I cant find any photos of it during its time with me until after a year or so it turned out like this

it was my learning curve and sported some interesting items at times e.g. lexus lights massive fibreglass bumper various light up rubbish

second came these runabouts but didn't last long till I got my brocade 3dr sport

had my brocade sport around 11 years I think fallen in and out of love with it at times. used it everyday sometimes and then not at all for a year or so.
had various states of build over the years

the last 2 pictures are how it has sat for the last 18 months at my parents house.

anyway to the new build....... the van
I needed a cheap to run motor that I can fit bikes and camping equipment and work junk in
so my love for the mk3 took over. the hunt was on with a little indecisiveness for a td van.
eventually came across this 92k with only 1 owner from new

first thing ive done is clean the engine and bay so I could assess if it needed any work

couldn't see anything worrying so very happy. just needs a decent service before its put into regular use.
and that's where im at for now.
keen eyed ones amoung you will have spotted a black cdx which will be my donor car as it is rotten
plan is to build a decent spec van that looks the business but is still usefull and cheap to run
any/all commenst appreciated. and help and ideas are welcomed.

so last week I decided to strip out the van to check the floor and fit the electrics from the cdx

then stripped the cdx to see what I was in for.....

if you have seen my other thread in electrical I have struggled to get my head round the wiring
but hoping after today I will have cracked it

Cdx leather looks shot

yea seats are in need of a refurb along with quite a few other things but it is a 18yr old car project :)
plan so far is to get everything fitted and working before spend any time or money making things look nice(that's the easy bit)

I can't get the dash loom out
So just adding the correct looms into the existing. There are about 30 wires from fuse box into engine bay and I didn't really want to cut them

managed today to finish fitting and wiring the electric windows :)

then professionally made the donor car water tight

been a confusing but great learning experience

also managed the wire in the heated mirrors and heated seats so hopefully they will work ok when I build up the rest tomorrow.

stripped bumper off the front to check condition of everything and also to check what wiring was present
that was it for the day reasonably happy with myself

Great work mate..
