As title says, i've got an idea but dont know if it will work or if it will look really bad, i got a standard 1.4 but want a black interior as grey looks rubbish! would back to black work? the stuff you use on bumper trim etc or would it be quicker and cheaper to buy a black interior? if so where from?
Thanks in advance!

i think that stuff would just come off over time with rubbing and touching, best bet would be to have a look in the for sale section, ebay or local scrappy for a black interior

back to black just restores black trim with a silicon compound, it would just make your grey dash a shiny greasy grey dash. Should thank your lucky stars you havent got a horrible blue interior (like me lol)

Think your talking about the paint for vinyl... My brother did one and it was VERY hard wearing (wouldnt come off with your nail scrapping the surface for example). Did not look as good as an original dash as it looked too much of a gloss finish but really shocked at the stuff to be honest as I expected it to be well... shocking but it wasnt too bad

Much better! This was in my brothers old merit and looked good to be honest. He used Halfords vinyl spray and was VERY hard wearing...

So there :P it can be done and it can look good

fair play to painting the dash, but wouldent it be easier to just fit a black dash !

It wouldnt be easier changing the dash as they can be a bit of a pain in the arse but I would change the dash if i'm honest rather than painting one...
It was just done to say that it could be done
only a few months after the dash was painted the shell of that car was scrapped (it was too rotten for a redtop). Center console was changed too (its a 5 sec job). Halfords vinyl spray was used and my brother just said the one thing to watch out for is any oil or polish on the dash has to be removed... he washed it repeatedly in soapy water to de-grease. The longest part of it was masking everything!

It's the money i was thinking about....a can of spray cost £10 will nip up scrappy at weekend and try find a black one to save myself more money =D off the topic here but i got a tiny patch of rust on the boot and a little bit on the hole for the wiper, whats the easiest way to sort as im no good at repainting, the thing is its only a tiny bit, smaller then a 5p but it still rust!
