help wanted with fitting wishbone bushes

I'm sure the bushings need to be pressed into the arms as well, i'm sure this is why i've always changed the whole arm rather than just the bushing

Yeh its much easier and quicker to change the whole arm instead of just the bushes and this has the bonus of a new ball joint too. Unless you are fitting poly bushes ?

we aint going for poly bushes just yet, just replacement bushes to pass its NCT (MOT)

are the bushes easy enough to remove?? whats involved??

Powerflex bushes will be fitted all round in the future when I lower the car :)

Just get new wish bones... they come with the bushes in.. and you know they will be stright..

saves hassle pulling old bushes out and fitting new ones. and will prob be about the same price as just new bushes..

So listen to the people.. xx

Well to be honest it would be far easier taking the bushes bk an swapping them for the complete wish bone:nod:

Or

you will need to cut the old bushes out.. (pain)

Then push new ones in (pain)

looking at the owners diary it looked like the arb droplink bushes that you were hoping to replace, have you got a photo of the bits you have to fit?

These are the 2 bushes we got for the wishbone...

whats involved in dropping out the wishbone to swap the bushes over??

xx

yep they are wishbone bushes, my advice is the same as everyone else's take them back and get the hole wishbone, much easier to replace and will cost approx £20, unless of corse you have the ability to press in new bushes etc.

dont worry Neve'o, I am good at pressing stuff :bathbaby::rofl: x

you dont mean to say there is a special tool do ya?? the bushes were cheaper than the wishbone, but if it proves too tough, new wishbones will be purchased :) let us try first though :) we love challenges!!!

xx

You may be able to press them in with a big vice but you may also need to have them machine pressed into place, theres a reason why just about everyone just replaces the wishbone rather than just the bushes, but good luck though!

ok thanks for the advice :) I think after reading that, I am gonna take your advice, and take the bushes back on Tuesday, and order 2 new wishbones, keep everything fresh, so it all wears the same :) how do you take out the wishbones?

its been a while since iv had to do a mk3 wishbone but iirc you have to undo the arb drop link, undo and pop the ball joint which connects to the suspension strut and then undo the bolts which go into the subframe, its quite a simple job really. Im sure if i'v missed something out some else will add the required info!
