Help! Where does this pipe go?

I removed the drain pipe from the fan compartment two days ago and there is a little pipe that passes through it, the end that is in the engine bay has come disconnected from somewhere and I cannot for the life of me see where it is supposed to go! anyone know?

if its a small vacume pipe the gose thro the rubber water drain from the bulk head that gose into the car to control the heater flap it gose on the brake servo vacume pipe valve.
