Hii just brought a 2.0 cdx with a c20xe engine, only driven it 180 miles, mint conditon when i started driving it.
not ragged it (too much), but the waters gone murky (typical head i know), BUT, the ecotecs head went, so could it be left over gunk from that?

any body know the best way to find out if it is a head problem?
waters disappearing, but oil is clean.
Blew a water feed hose, not sure which one, i am only 18 and this is my 1st redtop. repaired the hose and reattatched it but still having problems.

no smoke.

if any body can help me at all u will be a life saver. if u need any pics of any parts let me know, ill take em and send em,
email me if u do, carlmedlin_2k6@hotmail.com

cheers lads, hope somebody out there can help me (Y)

3) Milk from old engine
4) Condensation (sp)

You could do a compreshion test. Test the bores and the water system.

Agreed, is it a coscast head? (stamped on the cylinder head) I would do the above tests first could just be gunk from the old engine.

Would'nt it not just be a head gasket fail???

Well im not sure what to do, my manifold doesnt have a heatshield and its burnt a hole in my radiator feeder?
Could that have funked up the water test?
ive owned this car for 4 DAYS and its broke down 3 TIMES!!!
ANYBODY live near northampton who could help out??
im well stuck, too much seems to be wrong at the minute!!

or anybody have any advice, need a heathshield, new radiator feeder hose, new head gasket!!!
:( :( :(

Radiator feeder? I presume you mean the pipe from the 'stat to the rad? I very much doubt it has burned through to be honest, lots of people run without the heatshield on LET's without melting the pipe, let alone an XE. Suppose it's possible that the hose blew out if the coolant was pressurising, which would be headgasket related.

if want head sorting i could help out.

fenny knows me, and if click on my profile on migweb you'll see comments from people who ive done work for before .

Coscast or not, they can both go porous so to speak. Porous actually meaning some doughnut has tightened the head down to tight previously and caused a water way to crack.
