Think you’ll struggle without the use of a welder.

you really need to cut a hole in the outer skin, fix the inner (which realistically would mean getting an inner wing repair panel as the shape is pretty complicated) fixing that and then welding the outer, which again looks like you may be better off with a panel

something like this

Mines not perfect, it’s a bit of a mess where the filler aperture meets the inner panel, access is a pain there unless you cut a lot more outer panel away which I didnt want to do

I had a welder, but hadn’t ever attempted bodywork repairs before.

I’m glad I had a go, but I think if I had involved a Bodyshop, it would have been too expensive a repair to be viable.

panels were from eBay and online.
Think the inner was £100 ish
Outer was £50 (but estate/van panels are getting a bit rarer I think)

Wow... you've gone for it there pal....I'm impressed.
My astra has a whole host of issues at the moment so I'm struggling to justify more money being spent on it as I've already spent £500 on it recently.
Money is tight at the moment so I think I'll repair/bodge it as best as I can ..get through the winter then sell it next year for a few hundred quid as opposed to scrapping it pal.
