Apologies if this is already on the site somewhere, but I found this youtube video very interesting.

It's from the Hungarian GM plant and shows them building the Astra-F.
Go to 6.24 to see the production process.

I like the fact the cars were (at that age) made by people, not robots. Two blokes spot-welded the panels into position, while others sprayed the paint in about 10 seconds flat. It is in Hungarian but the footage intrigued me anyway! The cars were obviously very labour intensive to build.

Check out the massive drums of Cosmos Blue, Flame Red and Arctic White paint

Love that video great find and thanks for sharing

Wow, that was cool. Just wish I could speak Hungarian.
I love all the concept drawings at the beginning.

Here's a depressing thought though.
All that work put into each one, now I bet at least 70-80% of those shown are Chinese baked bean tins. :(

Ahh yes, i posted this a few months ago the "in will it ever stop thread."

To show the neat clay models :)

I'm sure they have an orange on in there

I just wish I could understand it! Cars nowadays must be so much cheaper to make.. notice how they fit the doors, weld the hinges to the pillars, paint the car complete (with nifty tailgate holding device), remove the doors, fit them up and refit them again :d

I loved how the whole dash goes in in one piece, proof that it can (in theory) come out all together...

as long as you've got access to a robotic arm and rig in your garage lol.
