Hi all,

I'm looking to buy this car here:

You can see that it does not have the AC button on the dash, but I contacted the advertiser and she said that it does have. Then I asked her to test it, and she said it works for both hot and cold. But honestly, I'm afraid she's one of those people that thinks that the ventilator to "cool" means AC. There's the possibility that the original controls got replaced by those and they only wired the AC or wired the AC to always be on, I don't know.

Now here comes my question, the car is located 300+km away from where I am, so I wanted to know, do you guys know a way to tell if a car has AC? By the photos, by the VIN number, some detail on the engine bay or something?

I asked her to send a photo of the engine bay, but I can't seem to find the AC pipes there.

Thanks!

Thats not got air con. (unless you drop the roof)

You'd have it on the dash a button next to the recirculation button, plus 1.4 8v's never had it. only 1.4 16v up

Awesome, thanks man. Yeah, I was giving the benefit of doubt thinking that perhaps they replaced the control unit and hardwired the ac or something like that.

By the way, I was thinking on getting a donor car and swapping the whole ventilation system, do you know how hard would it be?
My main concerning being:
- Does the fire wall change if the car has ac from factory or not? (Like Kadetts and Asconas used to change)
- Does it require major eletric/eletronic setup? (Is it connected to the ECU or isolated?)

It's not a small job to retrofit AC. The firewall is different, there's extra holes to the evaporator. It's certainly doable. It is connected to the ECU also, although you could bypass that part I believe.
