idle control valve on c18xe

Can anybody tell me how to clean idle control valve on my 1.8 16v dohc ecotec c18xe.How do i go about cleaning it and what is the correct stuff to use.The idle revs are erratic and I hope this will sort the problem out.

carb cleaner mate, just blast it through with that and then use a rag and a screwdriver or alike and just give it a quick wipe, a blast with carb cleaner soon gets rid of the gunk in there

Sounds like another piston rings problem oil in the inlet m8?
