Come back from 2 weeks in USA touring about ... Landed in LA, stayed in santa monica for 1 night then drove for 5 hours to Vegas. Temp was about 45 most days which is hoooot!!! .... the new Wynn hotel rocks too ... huge is an understatement. Saw a whole load of cool hotels too. Some big big money on that strip.
There for 3 nights, then about 8 hours to Sedona - near the Grand Canyon. Took a helicopter flight over the Canyon ... that was amaaazing ... 300 feet over the ground .... then suddenly 5,000. Wooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
After that followed another 8 hours back to LA where we stayed in Burbank. Saw Disneyland, World .. whatever. Also had trip to go big-house in Beverley Hills and Bel-Air spotting which was fun ... some serriiouus money being thrown about! Houses regularly going for the equivalent of £10, 15mill. PS: Snoop Dogg's gaff is gargantuan!
Then anohter 7-8 hours up to San Fran, where the weather was ****e. Visited Alcatraz, went down the winding road, and saw some uber-hilly roads. On the way there we passed a convoy of FOUR original Ford GT's!!!!! Got a fuzzy picture on my old man's camera coming up soon of it.
Onto the cars ... americans suck. Saw 2 Vauxhalls the whole time, and not proper ones at that - an Isuzu-badged Frontera, and a Cadillac-badged Omega.... but then what else do you expect from GM?
Euro cars don't exist full stop over there which means no hatchbacks. Which means all pickups. Everywhere! And the scary thing is they all have tiny brakes. Biggest "hoops" I saw were some 24"s on a battered old Ford pickup .
Also saw a few Bentleys, lambo's, fezzas etc.
What else do I miss?
Roundabouts! There are ..... none.
