well thought id start a diary on my new car!
After alot of let downs trying to buy one i finally got my hands on a phase 2 gsi in white! I was originally going to get the car as i agreed the sale with the owner but he let me down and took a deposit off someone else as i couldn't get to a bank at 5pm on a Thursday night (some people work you know
)
i got a call on the Saturday from the guy saying it was up for grabs again as the person who left a deposit hadn't sold there car!!! so i picked my mate up ( my mechanic ) and drove up north to have a look. Looked all around it and test drove it and knocked him down a little as it needed some work!
2 days later i got the train up and paid the rest cash and drove home 80 miles at 75mph averaging 46 mpg
The Car -
Phase 2 Astra Gsi, 58k on the clock serviced at the same dealer & MOT'd there EVERY year since it was purchased from there!
ok so here is the car the day i got it -
later that day i changed the rear lights for GSI ones (de-tango'd) as ph2's come with sport lights -
BEFORE -
AFTER -
Now roll forward to Friday -
i knocked the guy down on price as it needed some bits fitting and i wanted to change a few parts aswell. So Friday night i drove to Stoke to my Mechanics house and he changed my cambelt for me (wanted to make sure it was done as didnt want the engine breaking!).
Saturday morning we got up early (8:30am!) to start work! first of all was the CLUTCH! it wasn't releasing properly when you change gear, so we took both front legs off (you will see why later!), subframe & the gearbox! Clutch change went easy TBH but i noticed with the subframe off the front ARB is about 26mm thick
( thought they where 22mm! ). Changed a anti roll bar link aswell.
As i had taken the Suspension off the Cesaro it would be rude not to fit it as there group a spec Bilstein shocks with 60mm springs! We whipped them on and added my old 17's.
Im glad to say there is NO scrubbing at all and it looks fantastic
these are the only pics ive taken today as its minging after the rain over the night
To Come -
well i was hoping it would be here to fit this weekend but my polybush kit has not arrived yet! Also as the weathers been crap so not been able to detail the car yet
Hoping to fit my HID's and ICE tomorrow if weather holds out
Future Plans -
BIG Brakes - 4pots
Re paint a few bits
Rear Window tints
Custom Exhaust
Possible C20LET
