Alrite people....

I have a astra mk2 with a let in, It has the following spec;

c20let (from a calibra)
FMIC (frontera)
Bailey dump valve
phase 2 eds
manual boost controller (over riding the amal valve)
fse boost valve set at 3.5bar
kkk16 turbo (regal actuator)

everything else is stock, but i have a problem

when i bought the car it didn't have a good exhaust on and the AFM was foobered! so replaced both, with a 2.5 exhaust system and a new AFM.

I've had the boost up to 18psi but it started smoking but now whenever I start the car it just starts smoking and doesn't stop, I've tried cleaning the breather pipes out, there's a lot of oil deposit in the boost pipes, and when it dumps its splashed out into the engine just a small amount. It won't hold the boost either It boosts up to 18psi then drops back to around 11psi

Here's a video to the smoking.....

I think its turbo seals but just wondered what you let people think before I start taking it off

much appreciated! :)

turbo oil seals mate for sure, when you replace the turbo, make sure you clean out the intercooler as its probably full of oil, also dont drive it imo coz if it starts pi55ing out engine will be dead from lack of oil as it will all be in pipework,

this happened to rich edwards :)

just to say i have changed the oil to 15-50 as I thought thicker oil may help but it's just the same.

Thanks mate, I thought i was seals and no mate I've had the car out today just to start it up as its been sat for a mont and a bit but no don't wanna drive it it will cause more damage, You can get intercoolers professionally cleaned can't ya, To be honest a new one might be in order as theres a few marks on the one I have so might just replace.

this is what the lad who sold it me said, he said thin oil sometimes gets through the seals so give it a try, but no avail lol.

what ive seen people do it just leave the intercooler by a heat source and let oil thin and drain out, leaving abit wont hurt, will burn off.

if it was holding 18psi the intercooler is fine mate too

yeah i mean the fins are damaged so looks abit poo, any ideas as to drop in boost? maybe weak actuator, im gunna bin the fse boost valve as its absolutely pants and think the manual boost controller isn't doing the boost guage any favours.

FSE boost valves are the cra@ppiest thing you can put on a LET, they fluctuate fuel pressure and can result in major engine damage.

if the boost does drop off it could be boost leak or as you say a weak actuator.

hmmmm, I can't see anywhere boost could be leaking from, there's no hissing or any ab-normal noises on boost it just doesn't hold. Me thinks maybe actuator, I put a bike pump on tis though and it seemed to hold the boost so not sure.... I think i need 2 do some more research, It wont be going pod this year anyway, I'll prob bring the estate as its more rooomey :D Get all my camping gear in their :heh:
