right now i'm not sure whether its a fuse or faulty wiring is just gone lol, but the glove box light isnt coming on and its not the bulb, nor is the centre console were the heating nobs are, the lighting is coming up again. But the clock and date shows up :s

please help!!

The glovebox light is probably the light unit itself, I had it, got a new unit and it worked perfectly!

If it's standard bulbs in the heater bit then they're probably blown, again common thing on Astra's

okay i take it you can just find one of them light units from a scrappy or ebay?

and how do i get to the heater bulbs is it just simply remove the centre console?

cheers,

Tom

heater one's yeah you do have to remove all the center console to replace them :( its quite a easy job really, and any old astra wil have the holder for the glove box light you need if thats already gone take it out the boot :)

Yeah I've got led replacements in my heater stuff, quite a fiddly job if you haven't had it out before as the tid has to come out, radio, basically that whole black panel etc!

yeah no worrys mate  well i think i will go for the white look because my car is flame red, i really need to do my diary but i dont know how to upload the pics do i just use photobucket?

You can either use photobucket or the sites own uploader. Best way is to upload into an album and then use the ones you want in your diary thread from there.

Tom, i had the same problem with the glovebox light not working on mine, bugged me for ages. I had pretty much everything else working except the glovebox light so i changed bulbs, units, wiring and last of all i checked the fuses as i thought "phuh more things would be out if it was a fuse. . ."

However that was not the case, i replaced a split fuse and voila glovebox light now works. So i'ld recommend you check your fuses out before bothering to change the unit if you know the bulb is good. Remember your glovebox light will only work when the car is turned on, or mine does lol

Think the fuses to check were either number 7, 11 or 21 off the top of my head, best bet is to start one end and pull one out and if they are see through check to see if the curve inside is complete if the curve is broken then its a dodgey/blown fuse and needs replacing if they arent see through then change it for a see through one then see if that makes any difference or check the strip of metal along the top to see if that has any breaches, make sure you make a note of which hole the fuse came from as i have many empty unused holes in my fusebox lol so could get a little confusing. . .
