Hello people

I just bought a set of 17's and want to slam the car before an engine conversion - id like to go as low as possible but stilll manage the million speed bumps someone seems to have built round by me - pitty they arent really sleeping police men.

im thinking a 50/55mm drop but ive just found some 60mm springs on the net I dont really want to settle for 40mm , what would you advise?

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,

I've got mine lowered 60mm all round on bilstein shocks and springs, i'm just starting to figure out that with a bit of weight in the front my wheels rub on the arches, i'm also experiencing inner tyre wear but i'm investigating into that this weekend, i would suggest that you think about how much and where you drive as i have to go about 2 mph over speed bumps in my area so as not to rub, i'm going to be changing to 40mm soon i think, it's a bit more practical and it still looks nice and low :)

You will also need to consider the offset of your wheels when lowering that much.

what conversion u thinking of? bear in mind the extra weight on the front end with a heavier engine... i'm on 40mm with a 2.0l ecotec lump and it's just about alright over speedbumps and wotnot... 60mm slammed looks the dogs but it is totally impractical imo...

Yeah agreed, i use my car everyday and 60mm looks mint but it dont half mess up your driving, especially down country lanes and potholed A52, it's like driving without any shocks lol

Yep my van going from 60mm to standard this weekend hopefully. then maybe at a later stage to 40mm drop. if i can get the alloys off.
