good luck pal

Should have the money by the end of the day or a so called "friend" wont be too pleased with the consequences lol
they may like it dry you never know

Wow. No update since november. Slacking.

Ive not really done anything with her. Had the afternoon off work a couple of weeks back and it was lovely weather so got her out, fired her up and found things had started going mouldy, could have cried. Had a mega cleaning session whilst she sat there warming up then figured it would be rude not to go for a blast.
Popped to the petrol station and banged a tenner in then went to pay nick a surprise visit at work. Country lanes were so much fun but the brakes are terrible, rusty with being sat and very spongy. Now with the weather starting to get better im gonna get cracking with this years preparation.

Gonna get the brakes bled up as i think i cooked the fluid when the rears kept locking up. If that doesnt work will sort a new master cylinder. Also need to source a brand new PAS rack when i get chance as its knocking its nads off.

I have put the bike carbs on hold again, simply because over winter i found a new hobby and its ever so addictive so money is tight but i aim to have them done for PVS. Only time will tell

That's all folks

Lazy *******!!..

very much so. RC drifting is just so much fun lol if i hadnt been doing that the bike carbs would be on by now ;) ah well. Live while you can n all that

Update

One step forward two steps back.
Ordered myself an mtx-l wideband last week which will be here tomorrow. Will get it fitted asap so one less job to do for pvs. also sent the big valve head off for testing. It was picked up at lunchtime and I got a call at 4pm same day, amazing service. Unfortunately the first thing he said was I'm afraid it's bad news. Pressure test was all good, he then stripped the head down to check on a couple of valves I was worried about as they were sat further down than the others. Turns out the head was a diy job by a complete muppet. Whoever did it had messed up putting the bronze valve guides in so tried to sort it by cutting the valve seats, but ended up cutting way too much and past repair, to the point where one of the valves was only touching on one side. Balls, head is scrap. Next option was to put the valves and double valve springs into my head but that means I need to get my head off asap, which I didn't want to do. Trying to decide what to do now, £110 he has quoted for collection, delivery, all testing and fitting of the valves and springs, not too bad at all. So a lot of thinking to be done.

Onto some positive, I've managed to sort transport to bogg Bros in Malton to have her setup properly so engine failure doesn't occur again. Plan is for it to go up on a lowloader from work on the 28th may. 2 weeks before pvs, yep. Cutting it close again lol gonna get the handbrake sorted, mot her early then get everything thrown together in one weekend, so it's now a case of watch this space bike carbs no longer "coming soon," they're actually happening haha

That's all folks

About time :)

And that's not good about the head! bit of a kick in the teeth.

Any come backs to the person who sold it you or was it a case of bought as seen?

Not good news on the head but not a lot that can be done about it.. Fingers crossed it all comes together

Cheers Andy.

I've decided not to mess with the head yet, for now I'm just getting the bike carbs on so I don't have to rush. Also she's now booked in at bogg Bros for the 28th may. Will be getting everything together tomorrow night then I know what, if anything, I'm missing. Hopefully will be booked in for an early mot for Saturday then it's time to crack on Sunday.

Small update:

Just got back from the mot and pleased to say she has passed.

I do have a few other bits to update with pictures which I will get round to doing at some point. Now just letting her cool down then getting the inlet off and the bike carbs on. 2 weeks until bogg brothers

Surely you'll have to get the carbs re done once you've got the head done so best of doing it now as it will cost you less in the long run

I would do if I had the money. This has drained me massively this month already, still two weeks till payday lol

Update:

Well as promised, a nice, big, carb style update.

Been fitting them over the past couple of weeks so i may forget things here and there but hey ho.

Started off at payday, lots of bits ordered.
Nice Innovative MTX-L wideband

Brand new facet silver top fuel pump rated to 5-6psi, im only running 3psi at the regulator so plenty of pressure to get the fuel up to the front.

20ft of black braided fuel hose. Ive actually used every millimetre of this. Was a very close call

There was a few other bits which i never took pictures of but itll be rite

So i decided to take the safe option and get her mot'd before fitting the carbs, emissions could well be fun on the carbs and plus the mot being up just a week before PVS is cutting it way too fine for my liking so happy that the mot is pushed back a month now.

And thankyou to Mr Mot Tester she had a clean pass with one awesome advisory, he wasn't lying. And only 3000 miles covered in a year.

That night i got home and started getting everything together whilst it cooled down.

And soon got cracking, took a couple of hours to get the inlet manifold off but i was in no way rushing, id also tidied the wiring up in the kickpanel when i had the dash out, really well too as it was a complete pain to get the engine loom detached

Day after i was at work in the morning which dragged as i was very excited and just wanted to crack on. Once home i had a good couple of hours on it and got quite a bit fitted up, luckily i had been quite good to myself when i took them off and left almost everything together in a box and id left a few bits like the choke cable still in the car

Getting this far i found a couple of bits i needed to get ordered due to running a completely different fuel setup this time . Whilst waiting for these to be delivered i got cracking on other things.
Routed the fuel feed straight down the sill and through the original engine loom hole, got the pump mounted and feed from the tank somewhere near. I have since put rubber mounts on the fuel pump too, just to try quieten it down

Took the old fuel pump out and fitting a pickup pipe then refitted the pump mount in the tank. Its ever so slightly warped though so i will need to sort a new one, vauxhalls price is £164 for just the plate though so not a clue what i will do as im not paying that

Then onto mounting the wide band, stereo binned as i never use it and cant hear it anyway. Plate made that slots in nicely

Holes drilled, decided to put fuel pump and fan switches into this as well

Bit of black vinyl and a trusty old 8v badge to finish it off

And test fitted. Not too shabby if i do say so myself
