Oki problems with my c18xel. A while back the oil light came on and after so looking into it, I was told it could be the oil pressure release valve. So I got this removed and now bugger me if it will go back in! it will screw in fine but as soon as you put the spring in, it wont go anywhere near.... why?

We also got told that the pick up pipes have a tendancy to get blocked so drained the oil which was jet black and thick! and then removed the sump. The sump was full of gunk and so was the filter thingy part of the pick up pipe!

The pick up pipe has now been cleaned along with the sump and put back on, changed the oil filter and filled it with fresh oil and started it without the spring in the pressure release valve and it's still tappety, no oil getting to the top of the engine and oil light still on.

Would this be down to the pressure release valve not being in properly?

I don't think it's the oil pump, mainly because they don't die as quick as this did, we used the car early hours of the morning to go collect my sister and it was fine, no light, no tapping noises, no problems at all except lunch time that day this problem occurred!

without the valve in there there is no pressure! do not start it up again untill fitted!

it takes a bit of work to push against the spring to get the cap started, you would of seen this wen u un did it, but it needs to go back in as the spring is what keeps the oil pressure
