Phase 2 gsi to phase 1 gsi c20let

Hi everyone, I'm a new member but I've always read the forums and owned astra's. Recently started a new project so I thought I'd make a build diary...

20150426_091836.jpg I was living the dream in this 3.0 v6 1991 gsi, but it had too many bad bodges and it suffered badly with rot. When the mot ran out it was decided to strip for parts and reshell as it was beyond repair

Ideally I was looking for a clean 3 door shell but then a phase 2 gsi came up for the right money..

I'll get some more pictures up soon.

IMG-20160220-WA0009.jpg this is how it looked when we got it back. It came with a bumper and the original x20xev engine which had been sat in a barn.
 
Looks clean shame the phase 1 Gsi bonnet has catches in it

20160508_002929.jpg going to go for a 5 stud conversion, so got hold of some signum 16's. Going to paint them white.
Any advice on the front brake setup anyone?.....
 
If you're going 5 stud, then 288's or 308's (if they fit under 16s, I'm not sure if they do)

Do you know which calipers will fit? I've got some vectra v6 calipers coming soon and a set of cavalier turbo ones lying around. Anyone ever rebuilt a caliper?
How much of a job is it?

I've been quoted 300 odd quid and I think that's a bit steep as you can get a whole setup from LMF for that money
 
20160508_003952.jpg the last owner had a big sound system in it and had covered the boot floor in antivibe stuff (flashband basically!) So stripped it all out and repainted it. Got a proper omp strut brace to go on aswell. Just painting it yellow first

I always wanted one in white. All the phase 2 bits will be up for grabs soon as I've got hold of some white ph1 skirts and spoiler.

I'm keeping hold of the arb sorry as its the 26mm irmscher jobbie. I've just painted it and rebuilt the subframe with poly bushes. Pics to come soon.

I have a set of genuine ph2 skirts in silver aswell if your interested. Spoiler is going begging soon too

Yeah I stash arbs for when I need them I've got one on mine lol spoiler isn't of use as I've a estate but let me know on skirts

I haven't done them myself, but it's just a case of popping the pistons out and giving them a good clean up, and new seals. They're not massively complex, but you can just buy refurbs off the shelf.

Vectra ones won't fit I believe. Cav turbo ones will, but keep in mind some are 284 and some are for 288mm. I took mine off a Saab which I know to all be 288mm.
 
20160509_123131.jpg painted the front anti roll bar and rebuilt the subframe and wishbones, used all new poly bushes, and new drop links and ball joints.
Next job is to paint the bay and rebuild the front legs with 5 stud hubs and new bearings
