as in the title , i recently had my mk3 wrote off and have just got hold of a lovely mk2 currently fitted with a 1.4 16v tigra engine (which will be up for sale along with loads of mk3 bits soon) and i was wondering how hard it would be to fit my c20xe into the mk2 and would my f20 fit also?

im starting to strip all the wirig loom and ecu out of the mk 2 to make way for the mk3 loom but was wondering if there are any problems im going to face so i can prepare before hand?

thanks
ian

p.s pm me if you are after any mk3 parts (dash, mfd ect,gsi bumpers and 5dr pannels in diamond black(81L)..)

Theres more work if the Mk2 was an 8v, the shells on 16v cars were different to allow for the XE. If i remember its the gear links that mean the shell will have to be altered. Count how many tape holders the car has, i think the 8v's had 5 and the 16v shells had 3 to see which shell you have

it has 3 tape holders but the console is loose so cant rely on that and it has been fitted with an let in the past so the cross member has been "well lets say modified" lol

the only thing that springs to mind about your swap is the front suspension , im sure the 1.4 / 1.6 uses small block hubs and the redtop uses big block but its not the end of the world as you might be able to use the legs off your mk3 , have a look !!

As 3 tape holders is the 16v console, maybe you'll find a hole underneath it to allow internal linkage to be used... must have been fitted for a reason?

if its been fitted with a LET in the past the you shouldnt have too many problems fitting an XE. they are prity much the same at the end of the day.

It wont matter what gearchange you`ve got.Can you see the gear rod under the car or is it on top of the tunnel inside the car? If its underneath it just goes direct to the selector without the stupid clumsy linkage like mk3`s have.
You`ll need big block legs but you`ll be able to use your suspension and top mounts ect.
You`ll need the drivers side alloy engine mount from a gte/sri and check the rear gearbox one is the 3 hole type.
Apart from that its a peice of ****.Had loads of mk2`s and mk1`s in the past and got a mk1 estate with xe in now.
