Quick Question..... Hub Nut Size?

i used a big torque wrench (2ft-ish), and got the missus to stand on the brakes, took some doing, but got it undone, and if i can undo it, anyone can!

and on a x20xev, they are 30mm. deffo, i had mine off monday...

a good socket, wheel brace and scaffold bar always does the trick, never had a problem lol

just remember to have some one stamp on the brakes to stop the hubs turnin

put two wheel bolts in,and a bar inbetween the bolts and the ground also stop it moving, big wrench with a pole as leaver.

Hey, What the F7ck, I might just give it a go....
Just for the sake of it.
Whats the worse that can happen?......

Scrapped knuckles, broken fingers, broken shin if your foot slips..............
well, you did ask................................

I slide a cold chisel/centre punch in the blank wheel bolt hole in the hub, between the 2 caliper bolts.

It locks against the hub and you can use a big breaker bar to undo and do up.

Sure I used a 1 3/16" last time, with me 1" drive socket set.
tabetha

easiest way to remove the hub nut is to slacken the hub nut with the car on the ground with the wheels still on. i used a breaker bar (same as matts from halfords) 30mm deep socket and it was a piece of ****! easiest if the wheel is a steel as you can remove the split pin easiest. and dont forget that the strut top bolt is best slackened off while the car is still on the ground. also if your removing the strut, make sure that you have some cable ties to hold the caliper up and be carfull not to split any ball joints (trackrod end or the bottom arm ball joint and cv boots. dont let the cv hang down either, cable tie or string to keep them near level and avoid damage)

tbh, the job is time consuming but is possible with ease.

hope this helps.

buy some spring compressors mate, and whatever you do, don't totally undo the strut-top nut while the strut is in place! yeah, slacken it, but dont over-do it...!!!
