A full years mot.

Spur of the moment thing as it hasn't turned a wheel since the middle of June so I was quite surprised when I got the phone call saying it had passed.

Couple of advisories or whatever the hell they're called now, pitted front disks and 2 oil leaks, one from the sump one from the gearbox, politely told the guy they've leaked for the last 9 years since the engine went in, he found it amusing.

I'm gonna rewind, a few months now, the astra lives at my parents house because I currently don't have a driveway (yet, work in progress) and they decided to hire a less than qualified painter to paint their house who ended up covering the astra in white dots even though I moved it onto the street out of harms way, or so I thought.

Now I didn't take any pics of the spots but believe me I've had a nightmare trying to get them off, I tried everything people recommended including: wd40, vinegar, g3 compound, meguiars revolution.... Something. All useless

So after getting it road legal again I took a trip to rm bodywork to ask advice and he said paint thinners followed by a machine polish.
So I've done all the major body panels with thinners, it takes a while but it's shifting it, and I've never used a machine polisher before but I'd say I'm a f**King legend at it, or at least not bad.

So yeah, it's getting there, I'm gonna remove all the black trim during winter and repaint it all as its looking a bit messy, but for the 1st time in a long time the car is actually shiny.

Stay tuned

Wow number 1 your still alive and 2 you still have the astra!! Will it be at vboa 2020??

I'm not just alive, I'm living. And yup I'll be at billing not billing 2020

Happy days hope the painter got a kick in the spuds for it

Wow no updates this year, that'll need to change.

In all honesty haven't really used the astra at all this year, other things in life have taken priority. Funny how that happens eh.

Anyhoo, it's amazing how a car that hasn't moved can get a cracked window, it's also amazing it happened the same day the neighbours cut their grass down the side of the house next to the car eh. Sadly no proof means I just had bite my tongue. I didn't take any pics due to anger would kick in every time I saw the picture.

New glass fitted today, no after pics, it's a windscreen I'm sure you've all seen one. But during pics

Also anyone else notice how akward it is uploading pics to this from a phone now, maybe it's just me being a thicko

Can pretty much guarantee a stone was shot up an they didn't say a word,
Your not the only one who cant upload pictures easy

Its definitely what happened but alas, can't prove it, anyway its done now. Glad it's not just me that finds the new pic hosting difficult

what do you find hard about the picture posting? do you upload your picture onto here in the media section?

Good to see its still in good order

Great to see the car is still alive Rick.

Think it's the only one that has survived the longest since this forum was started?

Just about I reckon, I bought mine in August of 2007, so just a bit after rick!

Yeah I use the media section then just find it a bit fiddly having to scroll back and forth to upload pics from said media section. I just think it's me being daft not the process in general
