Well me and alex set off this morning at about 8am to head back to Corby to run the evo round the track for the day. Was a very good day, weather was more than good and it sucked that we had to cover arms as it was hot.
Anyways got there and got into the briefing and out on the sighting laps to see what is what and where it all is. and mostly what had to be missed lol
Some near misses but i always found the evo a little bit unstable under braking while turning a little as back end does tend to move a bit to much for my liking. But after getting a few laps out the way coming round the last corner we nit our first problem of the day. To keep it short i blew a boost pipe, split it down the middle. I had feelings that the pipe wasn't gonna last longer but had to give it ago. We then spent 2hours trying so hard to source a pipe to use as a temp replacement. after trying one pipe and totally shattering it we were on the hunt for another. we even visited halfords with no success and then went onto wickes which we walked out with a drain pipe! to try cut the pipe ends off to fix the prob, but it was a tight bend and there was no way it was gonna hold..
Thankfully i found a old pipe of a taxi and cut that up and gave it ago, it held for 2 laps and blew off again, this time we got a lift back to the pits. then made a few adjustments and off we go again. cant remember if it went again? alex?
Anyways issue with pipe is fixed for moment, so we got a good few laps in. prob 6 in total, dunno lost count. but it was alot of fast laps with very hard braking. Then on one lap at the end off the outfield oval came to brake and found pedal getting very soft, then nothing at all. thankfully i lost enough speed before this happened to get off the track (just) and then back on and do 2 cool laps. Then it was into the pit garage for a cool down...
Then it was out again for a check on brakes. still felt soft, but got alot better after another 2-3 laps. Fluid must of boiled as everything else looked fine. so i was glad in a way that things were looking up and its fixed it self.
Got a few more laps down and then we went in pit lane to swap over, as at this point alex didnt even have a drive, as from all the problems that we been haven. sadly he only got a lap in and it was home time.
To sum it up, its a good track. but some corners take balls, esp the oval corners, as there fast, and seeing as i dont plan on keeping the car much longer i was staying far away from the wall! lol but once you get to know the track alot and build up the speed its good fun
Im now thinking off my next toy, dont plan on putting it on the road, but something light and with a XE i think. I may even look at the nova route, but atm i really was a caterham or a westfield as they were nuts all day long. Handling looked spot on!
Anyways, plenty off pics . alex has some pipe pics lol. My pics will be in next post etc
