I have a nicely powdercoated heat shield in my shed I'm yet to re-fit due to the bloody studs snapping lol.
Will a heat shield be ok being powder coated. Wasn't sure if the heat would effect it

Great to see any Saloon these days, so rare now. Always recall my mates dad's J reg base solid blue 1.4 Merit Saloon with blue tweedy upholstery and manual windows all round, bought new, vividly recall being in it a good few times. Replaced by a Red Arctic Hatch new in 97 on a P. You just never see loons now. Looking Great and a really nice colour too. Kind Regards Russell

So I've been plodding on at weekend, seen me out with the grinder and welder again. I'm begin to thing this ones worse than my other one but I know its gonna be a good car once Its done.. So I had my doubts on the NSR lower corner in the boot as i was chipping away at the flakey corrosion on the underside. You guessed it,,went through like a knife in butter. So set to cut the outter skin off, luckly I've kept the templates I made from the previous side so made life easier to repair this side :). I've got the inner panel done and the outter panel back on I just need to fold it into shape. Second piece was on the back panel only a small section so got that done. I'm hoping this is all the repairs done once I finish of the corner then I can focus on getting the floor re-sealed and coated.21348213492135021351213532135421355

I've recently finished mine on the GSI so I know what you're going through.... Looks like you're getting there now though :) I also waxoiled mine when I finished in all the box sections and arches.

What seam sealer did you use (assume it's the brushable stuff in a tin)? The stuff I used was pants, simply didn't set so ended up removing and going with tigerseal out of a gun.

I've been getting abit more done. I've took the full front off even the wings as their rotten. Set myself away stripping surface rust out the front arches with my shot blaster and very fine media, wire wheeled it all then etch primed. :) tonight after work I set myself away drilling out the snapped heat shield studs all 10 were replaced with rivnuts on the front and middle section.. As you can see I've a bit more surface rust to get rid of but il get a wire knot wheel and blitz it, plenty of etch primer then its onto getting the raptor coating applied :) 20190331_162817.jpg20190331_182428.jpg20190401_200158.jpg20190401_200206.jpg

Sounds good.... wish I'd colour coded with something other than hammerite now if I'm honest. Although it's decent stuff it doesn't like anything going over it like the Schultz I tried so kinda stuck with it now.

Today I thought about trying out a new colour on one of the old wings. Vauxhall chilli, blood or henna orange which ever you class it as. Quick job with a rattle can il be painting it properly don't worry. 20190406_164708.jpg20190406_165540.jpg20190406_165904.jpg20190406_170300.jpg

Came out well for rattle cans.... I'd be taking it all off if you do go over with a 2k though (with all the problems I've had and all). Or maybe it's just me with the bad luck lol. Seems like some paints in rattle cans are ok, like the rear black panel on my boot that's lasted years and years.
