Saloon number 2

Small update. But I have finally tracked down some original AC pipes after i stupidly binned the originals. Been today to remove them and of course I took the clips and fixings, condenser and loom. All for a sum of £20

Pics of the sed AC pipes. I've got 2 full set ups. One from a Saab, the other from the mk3. So when I get round to it the plan will be to make one set of pipes out of the 2. I have the saab compressor, saab condenser or I can fit in the mk3 condenser. But il decide when I get the point of fitting. 20200614_102639.jpg20200614_102632.jpg

Wow I haven't updated this in over a year car still hasn't moved out my garage. I've been far too busy with home improvements and side line work aswell as actual work.. But now the times here and cashflow is available to start and put it back together so treated myself to a new Exhaust manifold and I'm rather excited to receive this piece of the puzzle. I can't thank Tim enough at Trust Tubular (SAS Customs) for holding the manifold for so long he even revised the goose neck F.O.C.

Plus I've started with fitting Air-conditioning back into the car and I've decided to use all astra pipes and condenser but all this needs mocking up once the manifold is in place.

Well Mr UPS man arrived today ;) with my manifold :)

So had my tea and got it tried on

Dropped on my wastegate and turbo for a mock up

At this point I thought its going to be tight with a radiator in there with the AC condenser in the original place.

Rotated the goose neck till the Wastegate flange was 5mm clear. It will make plenty space but il have to move few things forward.

So after a long week of thinking it's time to ditch the FMIC and go for a charge cooler. All the lovely space I made above the gearbox will be filled. By doing this will allow for more space up front.

Il need the obvious CC, a 25mm CC radiator, header tank, pump and couple lengths of hose. Chances are it will be done in AN fittings with Teflon hose.

So that's the plan, also finally getting a pair of Ph1 electric mirrors thanks to Dan Wilde on his hunt at VBOA. I got some looms the other night out of a Vectra B de-pinned them ready to go in the MK3 looms. All in £40 bargain :)

Good progress mate, that manifold is complete madness! Never seen a mk3 rocking one of them I love anything that is a bit different.
I fitted a charge cooler on my mates fiesta rs turbo, we put the rad under the boot floor. it was ******* sick haha

That mani is a work of art! Glad to see your back on with the 'loon it's been off the road far too long :D
Slow progress but il get there. Currently building a workshop on the back of my garage so I have some were to actually build and fabricate stuff. Loads to be done still, new garage roof, new electrics etc plenty on until I actually get the car in the air and finish it.. For now I'm buying parts so it's all here ready :)

Little update I've made a purchase or multiple purchases shall I say lol.
Charge cooler Rad, Charge cooler capable of 650bhp more than enough for my application. Charge cooler pump 1700lph it will flow.. waiting on a few parts arriving like the clear coolant hoses let's see the liquid flowing :) then I can get it fitted up new vacuum hose in orange, boost hoses are the same. More this week light nights are coming now so il kick the kids to bed and crack on

Been doing abit today started making my turbo support brace, started by making a couple of cups or towers, thick m8 washer and stainless tubing. Stainless steel rod, using adjustable rose joints to support the turbo. Hoping tomorrow night after work I can make the 3rd support leg from the lower part on the head and join were the 2 become 1 IMG20220306114236.jpgIMG20220306114249.jpgIMG20220306171029.jpgIMG20220306171034.jpg
