Right,

VERY sluggish 1.4 16v, misfires under load at low revs, has no power till I get to 5000rpm, tried to stall out a couple of times when idling.

Any ideas guys?? Im thinking fuel filter however would like to know all options.

Would like to say that EGR unplugged however before that there was no EML, was like this before I unplugged it as well. Plugs have been pulled out and cleaned, they weren't coked up or shiny so rules out under or over fuelling that I can tell, leads need changing however that doesn't really constitute this much power loss to me......

cheers.

oh right i was going to say i have had no probs with mine and have you put that back box on cos that might have an effect as it might not be getting enough fuel

Why would the backbox do that?? and no I haven't yet.

because its more of a straight through box and it lets the engine exhail a bit better

Try it with the old box if you can. But i cant see that being the problem. Is it getting a good enough spark?

Not changed the box, I dont know if the spark is ok at the moment, every time I test a spark I shock myself

Ill look at that tomorrow afternoon

just though it could be soaking up moisture i looked at my filter today and were it sits over the hole it was a bit damp could have a look tomz bud could be anything to do with fuel or air

if yu have an induction kit on it might well be that as they do not like your type of engine , ive had to remove mine on same engine as it had no torque and stuttered all way to around 4500rpm as was slow as fudge.
put my k&n panel filter back on and it runs great now :)
give it a go mate init .

just answered this on mig mate sounds like timing is out by 1 degree bud ive had it before sorted the timing belt out and it was sound after that

Back box will not affect it, even if it was not there, could be a lead breaking down, could also be a clogged fuel filter, when was it last changed ?
tabetha

Yes mate, going to pull the belt covers off this afternoon and look.

no idea when either were changed, had leads break down on me before, it also run like I had plugged them in the wrong way as they were arcing between leads, its not doing this, I didn't think that it would loose this much power when leads go south

Its getting much much worse now, tried to stall twice when doing a hill start, had to rev the nuts off it to get moving!!

i have noticed that the temp gauge went up VERY quickly, then went down slowly, and the fuel pump seems louder than normal??

Am going to try pulling the fuel filter off and emptying the carp out of it see if it helps.

Noisey fuel pump is prob becasue its straining itself becos filter is blocked and filter blocked= no full which = running lean which = higher temp

change the fuel filter mate there only about £5 posted off fleabay
