Steering rack and pinion freeplay.

Hi. How much of freeplay of steering rods connection do you have on your astras? I don't know what's the name of this part so I just post a picture. In my car it goes up and down. Is it normal? How much freeplay is normal and how much is not?

These should stiffen things up for you mate. I have no play on mine.

Thanks mate but my question was not about connecting rods but steering rack and pinion freeplay itself. When you grab connecting rod part you can move it up and down?. Freeplay is not on the bushings of connecting rods but on the steering rack.

Hi mate, finally got out in the workshop today.

Where the arms bolt to the steering rack, I have zero play in any direction. up down, in out. i cannot move it even a smidge.

Sounds like u rack bushes are dead internally
