stereo and speaker wiring ??

Hi,


i since i bought my van i havnt been able to get my stereo to work. a mate cut of the iso, and that didnt work. at the weekend i went to the local scrappy and got myself an iso from a s reg vectra. wired it in colour for colour, and connected the stereo, bypassing the ignition by wiring the red and yellow to the battery feed. (when i reconnect the ignition wire i cannot turn of the ignition while the radio is on)

my problem now is the stereo is working but i cant get anything out of the speakers.

btw its a cheapo alba ics 101

i dont have another unit. as the one in the van when i got it was dead.

i was told it was the ignition switch but i changed that and it didnt fix the problem.

its doing my head in at the minute as i have taken the connectors off and reconnected them all again to see if it was me who made the problem but this didnt solve the problem.
 
sounds like you need to redo all the wiring to be honest ... sounds like all the wires are wired up wrong.

So long as the radio is on, something should come out of it. What i used to do on cars that dont have an ISO plug on them (or where the ISO plug looks dodgy) was to get a 9v block battery and use it to locate the speakers. If you take 2 speaker wires which you suspect to be the front left, stick one of the wires on the - sode of the block battery, and rub the other wire on the + side, you should hear the speaker crackle.
9v is safe to use on the speakers, and its a good way to locate the right speaker wires.
 
i have booked the van into the auto spark to get the radio sorted so its off ther on saturday morning. fingers crossed its all sorted
 
just got the van back, it was a short between the rear speakers and the wiper electrics apparently... all sorted now tho woo hoo

am well pleased its working now.. nothing worse than a noisey van with no stereo lol
