The Coal Roller

As you can (hopefully) see on the above pictures the seats are ripped very dirty and pretty much past it.
So decided to fit one of the three sets of leathers I had laying about.

A before and after image

Photos are all showing up for me. Those seats look nice and comfortable!

Any other plans for it?

Good.
Yeah there nice and comfy. When your not sliding off them lol.
Cold in the winter too, as I haven't wired the heaters up for them.
But even that said there a dam sight better than what was there.

Nothing major on this one bud.
Was supposed to be just a temp after my 3 door merit was stolen.
(I much prefer my 3 door shells)

Next up was a bit more power.
Turned up the pump an the other bits you also have to do.
(White ring mod not done tho)
Removed the cat, centre silencer, and rear box.
All replaced with straight pipe

Rolling roaded at darkside developments. (As I'm mates with the owners and all the staff that work there)
Chucks out lots of black smoke now,
Running at 120bhp which is enough for me for now with standard stuff. Plus it's my daily not a racecar ha ha.

(Sorry no pictures of the work)

Next up was the orange side repeaters.
Swapped for mk4 ones after I had put a slight tint on them.
Not to everyone's taste but I quite like them.

And also a set of new door badges as one had lost a letter off them and looked tatty

After a quick wash.

Jumped on the fk lowering springs deal when they came up at £17 and bought 3 boxes.

So I thought for that price I may aswel put some on this.

Also painted the rear shocks up yellow while I was under there. No other reason than to make them look a bit smarter.

No after pics sorry.

Only fitted the rear springs for now. Didn't have time to do the fronts as was at work the next morning.

After boosting about for a good while it slowly developed a boost leak. Apart from being down on power it had a really loud whistle wich was annoying as hell.
So borrowed the boost leak tool from darkside and set about mending it

The cause of the problem

The solution

With that sorted it was back to boosting.
(For a while)

Yeah mate I have the one. Will be coming up shortly.
I don't really get many opportunities to take pics of it rolling as I'm always in the driving seat.

Yeah I'm familiar with that one, does make it difficult to get 'action shots'...

That's in great condition considering the miles, nice one. How does the jump (40bhp !) in performance affect the mpg? Mine are both stock and 80bhp means you've little chance of overtaking anyone where I live..

Few weeks after and the starter motor decided to pack in on me.
So it was back up in the air

image.jpeg

After a bit a faffing I managed to get the old one off

image.jpeg

It had sheared the engage pin clean off.
Wich was now floating about in the housing of the gearbox. And sod's law it was a gearbox without the inspection cover at the bottom.

Fubard !

Set about removing the gearbox and dropping that side of the subframe.
After a bit of swearing and a lot of messing about I finally managed to get it out.
Had to remove the gearbox fully tho.

All that work for this little piece

Yeah I thought so too, usually the arches ar falling out and at least a little bit of rust round the filler cap. But this seems in really good condition for the miles.
I'm not the sorta guy to track mpg as I always have my foot down anyway.
I just know it's a dam sight cheaper than running my gsi.
Tend to get 350/370 miles to a full tank.
Probably not so good as most of it comes out the back unburnt lol.
